Entry requirements
- With GCSEs: No specific subjects required. Typical: No set grades needed; designed as a first job and stepping stone for young people. You'll keep working on English and maths if needed.
Careers it leads to
- Maintenance engineer: Keeps machinery and production lines running by maintaining and repairing them.
- Machinist: Makes precision parts using lathes, mills and computer-controlled (CNC) machines.
- Welder or fabricator: Joins and shapes metal for structures, pipes, vehicles and machinery.
