How it supports the Gatsby Benchmarks
WayWhat supports the evidence for several benchmarks. Meeting a benchmark depends on how a school uses it as part of a planned careers programme.
Benchmark 2: Learning from career and labour market information
Course-level graduate salaries, employment outcomes and common jobs from official data, plus links to National Careers Service job profiles.
Benchmark 3: Addressing the needs of each pupil
Routes for every kind of learner, including T-levels, college diplomas, apprenticeships at every level and land-based options, not just A-levels and university. Students can start from subjects, courses or careers, whichever suits them.
Benchmark 4: Linking curriculum learning to careers
Every GCSE, A-level, IB, T-level and BTEC subject has a page showing the courses and careers it leads to, ready to use in a subject lesson. Browse subject pages.
Benchmark 7: Encounters with further and higher education
Universities, colleges and IB schools by region, type and distance from home, with links to each course, to help students choose open days and visits.
Benchmark 8: Personal guidance
Students can build My plan (their subjects, shortlisted routes, careers and places, plus questions to ask) and print or share it before a careers meeting.
Ways to use it
- Year 9 options: families explore what different GCSE choices can lead to.
- Year 11 post-16 choices: compare sixth form, the IB, T-levels, college and apprenticeships side by side.
- Subject lessons: a five-minute starter with the subject's page, "Where can this subject take you?"
- Tutor time: students pick three careers and compare the routes into each.
- Careers meetings: students bring a printed or shared My plan.
- Parents' evenings and newsletters: share the QR poster or the paragraph below so families can explore together at home.
Safeguarding, privacy and IT
- No accounts or sign-up, no messaging between users, and no user-generated content
- No adverts, no tracking cookies and no profiling; designed for ages 13 and over
- Choices and plans are saved on the student's own device; nothing personal is sent to WayWhat
- Anonymous visit counts only (GoatCounter), with an opt-out on each device
- Works in any modern browser on phones, tablets, Chromebooks and computers, with nothing to install; works offline once opened
- Revision-guide links to Amazon and a voluntary tip jar help cover running costs; both are clearly labelled and never affect what's shown
